The La-La-LAMY Love

Hello, friends! I kept thinking what would a good second post be about. I've so many things to share with you that is almost impossible to choose.
Two nights ago, when it was pretty obvious it would be a loooong night drawing, the answer came. When there's no sleep but a lot of will to draw, I usually stay at my desk an create for a few extra hours than usual. But also that means, creativity isn't flowing like usual, I can feel the tiredness but I just can't go to sleep. So when this happens I gravitate towards my tools for inspiration. I've seen many artists over the years do just that and I have to admit it's a good, convenient exercise. You get to practice attention to detail, shading, textures, linework and it's such a good way to meditate, too.
In this drawing session I've decided to bundle up my favourite Lamy instruments that I use for drawing (there are more in my pen case, dedicated to writing , but that is for another time). I love the way this illustration turned out sooo much that I'll put it in my INPRNT store soon, for those of you who'd like to have one.

But let me tell you about them first! I love LAMY writing systems (that what they call them and it's so fancy, I ♥ it!) because of several factors:
they are built in house, in their factory in Germany
they are built out of good materials, even the ABS they use is very long lasting and qualitative
their design is timeless as they work with design houses or independent designers across the world
In my experience, did I find things that would personally improve? Yes, of course, but I always do, I'm kind of picky. I also have quite a few ideas of products from their range but dedicated to artists. A girl can dream, right? However, I'm so grateful I could gather my little bunch of LAMY tools in my pencil case. So here's

what I use:
- Lamy Safari 0.5 mm Umbra, with 2B lead
- Lamy Al-Joy 1.1 mm, with Lamy Black ink
- Lamy Scribble 3.15 mm, with 4B lead
- Lamy Al-Star EMR digital pen for my Samsung TabS6
I looove this little squad and I definitely want to improve it by upgrading the nib on my Joy fountain pen to an EF and a waterproof ink ( so hard to fiiiiind here). Also O have a wish list of a few extra items, such as a Safari with a B nib, an Al-Star pencil in Graphite and a Vista ballpoint pen for sketching on the go. I've noticed that the LAMY ballpoint refill is rather good for drawing and sometimes I love a good ball pen for that.
I see these instruments as an investment. Most of them are reasonably priced and the quality is top-notch. For example, my Umbra pencil an my EMR have been in use for 4, respectively 3 years on a daily basis. They still look and function as brand new! And the fact that they have the same grip, is a plus for me. They say people are split in two when it comes to the ergonomic grip on some LAMY instruments: those who love them and those who don't. I am in the first group. For me this grip feels natural, ergonomic, simple to hold, effective and as a plus, helps so much with my wrist pain. If they would add a 2mm pencil to their Safari range, well that would be heaven!
This being said, if you I got your attention and would like to give these beauties a go yourself, find them online or at your local stationery shops. If you aren't 100% convinced about the grip I mentioned, you should probably see them and try them in person. In any case, I'm pretty sure you'll find something in the LAMY line-up to suit your taste.
I wonder what are your most loved drawing or writing tools. You can leave a comment below this post and I'll read it and answer. Until next time, I hope you have a good week!
